Presentations
The Lions of Woodley and Earley has served the local community for over 30 years, during which time it has raised thousands of pounds for local causes.
It is important to remember that every penny the Lions Club raise from the public is used in welfare projects.
Each year the local community groups that we support are invited to tell us and their colleagues what major events have happened during the year.
They are then presented with their grant cheques for the activity requested.
2012 Presentation
The presentation evening held on Friday, 13th April was to give the cheques to the beneficiaries of this year's money raising activities and hear how the funds have helped each and everyone one.
To name but a few who have benefited were the Charvil Girls choir, My Family Matters, Woodley Netball club, Bulmershe Gymnastics,ASD Family Help, ACE Activity Centre Earley, the mobility trust with a new wheelchair, and many individuals requiring specialised equipment to help with their everyday lives; and the many Christmas hampers that were distributed locally,
Each Year the Lions Club support a number of organisations within the Woodley and Earley area. Typical support is by donations of either finance or equipment, funded from the money raised, by local events, such as The Tree of Light, Fireworks Display, Quiz nights, Jazz evening and last but not least the Christmas Sleigh.
The money raised is used for a whole range of projects such as supporting the disabled, the elderly and youth groups within our local community.
As well as at local level we are an international organisation and are proud to have donated to Canine Partners - They provide trained dogs to aid disabled people.
St Dustan's School for the Blind, who help people mostly injured in conflicts.
EFDS- disabled sports, Surrey and Berkshire ASBAH- Association for Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus
All of this could not be done without the generous support of the local community, to whom we are most grateful.
